Andrew Freese, MD, PHD

Medical Director of Neurosurgery at Brandywine Hospital

Andrew Freese, MD, PHD, is the Medical director of Neurosurgery at Brandywine hospital. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He completed his surgical internship, neurosurgical residency and fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania. Upon completing his fellowship training, he joined the Department of Neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University, where he was Vice Chairman and Associate Professor, mentor for the Rothman Institute Orthopaedic Spine Fellowship and a member of the Jefferson Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center. Dr. Freese became a Professor of Neurosurgery at Drexel University College of Medicine and Director of the Graduate Spine Center. Dr. Freese has returned to his roots in the Philadelphia area after serving as Director of Spinal Surgery and Vice Chairman of Neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota, and as Chairman of Neurosurgery at the University of South Carolina.

Dr. Freese is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and is actively involved in ongoing neurosurgery research projects. He has published hundreds of research articles and book chapters, and has edited and written several internationally recognized books in clinical neuroscience.
